A Prayer for Vision
Gracious and Loving God,
You are the Light that guides our steps and the Wisdom that reveals our path.
Today, I ask for vision—not just the sight of my eyes, but the insight of my heart.
Grant me clarity to see beyond distractions,
courage to pursue what is true,
and discernment to recognize the doors You open before me.

Let my vision be rooted in purpose,
not clouded by fear, doubt, or fleeting desires.
Help me to dream with faith,
to plan with wisdom,
and to walk forward with hope.
Where I see only obstacles, show me opportunities.
Where I feel lost, be my compass.
And where I hesitate, fill me with courage to act.
Shape my vision to align with Your will,
so that I may not only see, but also become
a light for others on their own path.
Amen!
Vision (ὅραμα, horama; ὅρασις, horasis; ὀπτασία, optasia; מַרְאָה, mar’ah; חֱזוּ, chezu; מַחֲזֶה, machazeh; חִזָּיוֹן, chizzaiwon). May also be described as a revelation. Witnessing something supernatural that is not visible to the naked eye. This may be related to God’s work in the present or the future. It may involve the ability to see spiritual entities at work in the physical world. Related to, but not necessarily synonymous with, the concepts of prophecy and prophetic dreams.1

Father in heaven, thank You for giving me work to do in this life. Help me to become ever more skilled at Your calling for me. As others see the abilities You’ve given me, may they understand that those skills are truly a gift from above. May the work of my hands, mind, and body be glorifying to You, O Lord. May I be a good steward of the talents You’ve assigned to me and may they bear much fruit for You. Amen. 2
Lord, give the people of our nation a clear vision into the new year while we serve this community. Guide our motives in love. Grant us discernment in times of trial. May we carry out Your will in our daily tasks. Grant us peace and hope during troubling situations that we always stay faithful to You in times of strife. Allow us to pursue our mission. We achieve this by putting Christian principles into practice. Our programs build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Bless our community and our facilities as we give honor and glory to Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Weekly Scripture
“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law” (Proverbs 29:18 ESV).
Commentary:
חָזוֹן here denotes prophetic prediction, the revelation of God by His חֹזִים or רֹאִיה, “seers” (1 Sam. 9:9), [E. V. “when there is no vision”]; the chief function of these consisted in their watching over the vigorous fulfilling of the law, or in the enforcement of the demands of the law. By the phrase “in lack of Vision” a time is described like that mentioned in 1 Sam. 3:1, when “the word of the Lord was precious;” or like those mentioned in Hos. 3:4; Am. 8:12; 2 Chron. 15:3; Ps. 74:9, times distinguished by poverty in prophetic testimonies and activities. In such times the people must necessarily be “undisciplined and unbridled,” (so Ex. 34:25 [where the E. V. incorrectly renders “naked”]). —But he that keepeth the law blessed is he! (comp. 14:21; 16:20.) This benediction forms no strict antithesis to clause a. The connection of ideas seems to be this: But he who in such seasons of ascendant lawlessness nevertheless keeps God’s law, etc.” (Hitzig).3
