If I Were the Devil!

In 1965 commentator Paul Harvey broadcasted a message on radio. Its modern implications for today’s America are stunning. I have included the video/audio of the broadcast and included the written lyrics. I added commentary to the lyrics in bullet points that show just how portent this message was and how infested with Evil America has become.

A Warning to America From Paul Harvey

“If I were the devil … If I were the Prince of Darkness, I’d want to engulf the whole world in darkness. And I’d have a third of its real estate, and four-fifths of its population, but I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — Thee. So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first — I’d begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.”

“To the young, I would whisper that ‘The Bible is a myth.’ I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what’s bad is good, and what’s good is ‘square.’ And the old, I would teach to pray, after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…”

“And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors on how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.”

  • Child pornography is being peddled in public schools under the guise of gender equity, i.e. Call Me Tree, I am Jazz, Jacob’s New Dress, Gender Queer, etc…
  • Dragqueen Story Hour is ubiquitous in public libraries and schools.
  • Streaming services (Netflix, Prime, Hulu) are injecting gratuitous sex in most of their original movies or series.
  • Most mainstream Hollywood movies contain meaningless sex scenes and drug use; see Poor Things, Oppenheimer, Rocketman, and Babylon.
  • Drug use is at an all-time high legalized marijuana in most states, the opioid crisis, the fentanyl epidemic, and physician/psychiatry prescription abuse (read Toxic Psychiatry).
  • Supervised injection sites (SIS).
  • Drug Consumption Rooms (DCRs)

“If I were the devil I’d soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings, I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames. If I were the devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions — just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug-sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.”

  • Divorce is at almost 50 percent.
  • 7 in 10 black Americans are born without fathers in their homes.
  • Mainstream Denominations have split over political leanings whether conservative or liberal: Lutheran, Methodist, Episcopalian/Anglican, Presbyterian.
  • Southern Baptist Convention (SPC) is in constant chaos filled with plagiarism, women’s ordination, and LGBTQ indoctrination.
  • College campus administration is being overrun by socialist/Marxist/LGTBTQ clubs who demand segregation, safe spaces, and the termination of conservative-thinking professors.
  • Harvard has segregated dorms and graduation ceremonies.
  • Metal detectors are in most inner-city high schools and junior highs.

“Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography — soon I could evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress. And in His own churches, I would substitute psychology for religion, and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.”

  • Federal and State prisons are overflowing.
  • Recent Supreme Court Justice deviated from the federal sentencing guidelines in favor of child porn offenders.
  • Rapists, pedophiles, and sexual assault convictions are getting record-low sentences.
  • 10 Commandments removed from Oklahoma State Capital, Tallahassee, and Alabama.
  • School prayer has been banned from public schools.
  • over 1 thousand unitarian universalist Churches nationwide with almost 200 thousand members.
  • The Church of Satan was founded the same year as this broadcast.
  • Roman Catholic molestation controversy spanned over decades with little, to no, consequence.
  • Easter symbol = Easter Bunny or Egg
  • Christmas symbol = Gluttonous elderly man (Santa) who promotes materialism and greed.

“If I were the devil I’d take from those who have, and give to those who want until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious.”

  • Marxist ideology has taken hold in American colleges over the last 60 years.
  • Bernie Sanders (one of the leading Senators) is a democratic socialist.
  • “The Squad” openly advocated for wealth redistribution and other socialist values.
  • President Joe Biden is attempting to cancel student debt, funded by the taxpayer.

“And what do you bet I could get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich? I would caution against extremes and hard work in Patriotism, and in moral conduct. I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun, and that what you see on the TV is the way to be. And thus, I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words, if I were the devil I’d just keep right on doing what he’s doing.”

  • Legalized gambling is now spreading nationwide with full governmental endorsement.
  • The Biden administration discharged over 8000 members of the military for not taking the vaccine.
  • Military recruitment is diminishing, while LGBTQ recruitment commercials are airing.
  • Aids epidemic in the eighties, monkeypox, and STDs are ubiquitous.
  • Hardcore pornography is at the touch of every American’s fingertips in millions of smartphones around the nation.

The Bible is never wrong, if you study it hard and with a contrite heart with fidelity to the truth, you can recognize sinfulness and see the evil it always ushers in. Remember:

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
