This quote by Founding Father John Adams is a searing indictment against the secular government that America has been trending since the sixties. In recent decades this insidious secularism has seeped into the religious right, the Republican party, and many faith-based communities around the country. The problem we now face in America is a direct response to this secularization.
What John Adams was saying in this most poignant statement made over two hundred years ago is that without the marriage of God and country, America has no hope of survival. The constitution of the United States cannot be held to account by a people whose avarice toward God is so strident. The American Federalist system, designed by the Founding Fathers, needs the Judea-Christian fetters to base its citizenry on temperance, humility, gratitude, and (when necessary) repentance.
Although many on the religious right, and almost everyone on the political left-right-center, will certainly deny this reality that America is unable to right itself without a national movement to move this country back to “One Nation Under God.” That country no longer exists and hasn’t for decades. In a land where objective truth is up for debate, that land is susceptible to all manners of pagan governance that include child sacrifice, and sexual ambiguity leading to depravity, gluttony, addiction, and spiritual degeneracy. This is where America is today.
The Old Testament narrative is replete with the rise and fall of nation-states. The constant theme is that no nation, even ancient Israel, cannot stand on principle and virtue without the God of the Bible. Israel fell three times due to its disobedience and every civilization has fallen since for the same reason. America is headed toward the same fate, which will be a righteous judgment.

Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure conduct. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues.
